Through Quebec\u2019s financial assistance program, property owners and operators can receive funding for up to 50% of the costs for EV charging projects, with the possibility of an additional 25% rebate thanks to the federal Zero Emissions Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) that is expected to reopen later this year. Quebec\u2019s EV charging program not only benefits tenants and building portfolios, but it also aligns with the province&#8217;s commitment to electrify 350,000 existing parking spots in multi-family dwellings by 2030.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are contemplating installing EV chargers and keen to learn how much you could be eligible for, do not waste any time and <\/span><a href=\"mailto:benoit.roux@swtchenergy.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">contact us<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, as these programs usually fill up quickly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quebec\u2019s Financial Assistance Program &#8211; What Is Included?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whether you buy or lease your EV chargers, the maximum funding per EV charging port is $5,000. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The financial assistance paid to purchase and install multiple dwelling building charging stations is equivalent to the lesser of the following amounts:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">50% of the eligible expenses;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or a maximum of $5,000 per connector or wireless charging station.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Are there funding limits?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Qu\u00e9bec government\u2019s fiscal year begins on April 1 and ends on March 31 of the following year. The date of receipt of the reimbursement application determines the fiscal year related to it. The maximum amount of financial assistance granted per fiscal year is set at:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">$20,000 for a building with 3 to 9 dwelling units;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">$40,000 for a building with 10 to 19 dwelling units;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">$49,000 for a building with 20 or more dwelling units.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Who can apply?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Owners or residents can apply for financial assistance for the installation of multiple dwelling building charging stations. The financial assistance application must be submitted by:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Someone who resides in a multiple dwelling building and owns an electric vehicle<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The owner of a multiple dwelling building<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Property developers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Property managers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A syndicate of co-owners<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A business, municipality, or organization that has acquired an electric vehicle used by an employee who lives in a multiple dwelling building.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is the eligibility criteria?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Charging stations must have been purchased and installed after January 1, 2020.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Eligible Expenses:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cost of purchasing or leasing long term the eligible charging stations;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cost of installing the eligible charging stations and the requisite electricity supply infrastructure, i.e., labor and the necessary material;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cost of installing electrical supply and distribution infrastructure for the charging stations that will be installed subsequently to meet future charging needs (oversizing).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>New Eligible Expenses (Updated April 18, 2023):<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Professional honoraria to design charging solutions and prepare the plans and specifications;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cost of acquiring a device or software to manage the energy consumed to charge electric vehicles;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cost of the permits required to carry out the installation work.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The eligible expenses must have been paid when the financial assistance application is submitted, except for the remaining charging station leasing costs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Multi-Family Building Criteria:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Must comprise five or more dwelling units. If the building was built before October 1, 2018, it can comprise only three or four dwelling units;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can be for residential use or mixed use, e.g., residential and commercial use;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Must have parking spaces grouped in a common area;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Must be situated in Qu\u00e9bec.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Eligible Charging Stations:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The charging stations that are installed must be new.
