TORONTO, ON – December 11, 2025 SWTCH Energy, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging for multifamily and commercial properties, today announced the launch of its new Home Charging Program. The program offers single-family homeowners in Canada a free Level 2 EV charger and the unique opportunity to earn money for every kilowatt-hour (kWh) they use to charge their vehicle at home.

SWTCH’s Home Charging Program, in partnership with Plug’n Drive, expands the company’s charging network into the residential market. By offering a compelling financial incentive, the program leverages Canada’s federal Clean Fuels Regulation Carbon Credit program, which is designed to encourage the installation and use of clean fuels technologies.

“SWTCH is doing our part to make the switch to electric easier and more rewarding for Canadians,” said Carter Li, CEO of SWTCH. “By building the infrastructure and business model to turn home charging into carbon credits, we’re giving homeowners a way to earn money while helping accelerate EV adoption nationwide.”

Participants receive a free Level 2 charger and earn 3 cents for every kWh used to charge their EV at home, amounting to $100 to $150 a year in earnings for the average driver. Additionally, the chargers used in the program are eligible for various utility incentives, including BC Hydro and Roulez Vert, helping to further minimize the cost to install through a licensed electrician.

To participate, homeowners simply:

  1. Sign up and order a free Level 2 Home EV Charger via the SWTCH Home Charging Program store.
  2. Have the charger installed at their home.
  3. Use the SWTCH Home Charging Program app to connect the charger to their home WiFi and the SWTCH network, activating their earning profile.
  4. Begin earning for every kWh charged. Once an account has accumulated $100, participants will receive that amount as a direct deposit into their bank account.

The program is free to join – with no monthly or annual fees – for single-family homeowners who currently own an EV or are planning to purchase one in Canada. If you’d like to learn more and join the program, please visit: shop.swtchenergy.com

Milestone Unlocked: SWTCH Platform Secures CTEP Certification https://swtchenergy.com/blog/news/milestone-unlocked-swtch-platform-secures-ctep-certification/ Wed, 26 Nov 2025 19:55:19 +0000 https://swtchenergy.com/?p=6462 The SWTCH platform has officially received California Type Evaluation Program (CTEP) approval!

Why this matters

California is known for its rigorous standards for commercial weighing and measuring devices in the United States. Achieving CTEP certification means that the SWTCH platform meets some of the highest benchmarks in North America for metering accuracy and billing transparency.

The “Gas Pump” Standard for EVs

For decades, drivers have been able to trust gas pumps because they are inspected and certified to be accurate in declaring how much fuel they pump. As the world transitions to electric vehicles, that same level of trust is required for EV chargers.

This certification effectively validates the “meter” inside the charging solution. It tells the driver that when the screen says they received 10 kWh of energy, they actually received 10 kWh. This transition from estimation to certified precision is a critical step in maturing the EV infrastructure market.

Unlocking Fair Pricing: Energy vs. Time

Perhaps the most significant benefit for our partners is the ability to bill fairly. Without CTEP certification (or its national equivalent), regulations often force operators to bill drivers by time (e.g., dollars per hour) rather than by energy consumed (dollars per kWh).

Time-based billing can be seen as imperfect because charging speeds vary greatly depending on the vehicle model, battery temperature, and state of charge.

Advocates for kWh-based billing state that a driver with a slower-charging car shouldn’t pay more just because it takes longer to deliver the required energy.

CTEP certification allows SWTCH network operators to implement kWh-based pricing, ensuring a fair and transparent experience for every driver.

What this means for our Network

This certification is an important marker of trustworthiness. Specifically, it offers:

  • Unquestionable Accuracy: Validates that transaction data is precise, reliable, and secure.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensures full compliance for charging operations in California—the largest EV market in the U.S.—and other states that recognize CTEP standards.
  • Future-Proofing: Positions our partners to operate confidently in the most regulated markets, knowing their infrastructure meets the strictest legal requirements.

This achievement was made possible by the dedicated work of our product, engineering, and operations teams, who ensured our platform aligns with California’s stringent requirements.

We are excited to bring this new level of certified reliability to our network.

Walking the Walk: Our Path to Net-Zero by 2050 https://swtchenergy.com/blog/news/walking-the-walk-our-path-to-net-zero-by-2050/ Tue, 25 Nov 2025 15:56:39 +0000 https://swtchenergy.com/?p=6458 At SWTCH, we work every day to put EV charging in reach for more people in the places they live, work, and play. And as part of this sustainability-focused mission, we also wanted to look inward and see what we could do to make our business as sustainable as it can be.

That is why we are pleased to announce a new commitment in our sustainability mission: SWTCH is committing to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across our Scope 1 and Scope 2 operations by 2050.

Our Targets

This is an important, long-term decision, and to ensure we stay on track, we have set an interim milestone of a 20% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2035 before hitting net-zero in 2050.

Scope 1 and 2 emissions cover:

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions from sources we own or control (like company vehicles or on-site fuel usage)
  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy (like the electricity powering our offices and operations)

A Bit More About Us

For those new to SWTCH, we’ve dedicated ourselves to solving a particularly hard puzzle in the clean mobility transition: accessibility for all.

While single-family homeowners often have an easy path to EV ownership, millions of drivers living in apartments, condos, and mixed-use buildings are at risk of being left behind.

The infrastructure hurdles in these multi-tenant settings are complex. Aging electrical systems, competing energy demands, and high installation costs often stand in the way of installing the chargers that everyday people need to make EV ownership convenient and affordable.

That is where we come in. We use thoughtful design, open communication standards (OCPP), and intelligent energy management to make charging a natural fit for buildings that otherwise would struggle to support it. Whenever possible, we help property owners use their existing infrastructure rather than push expensive upgrades. This helps us make EV charging more equitable, more scalable, and more affordable for all.

Why Our Net-Zero Commitment Matters

If we want to be leaders in decarbonizing North America’s transportation system, “walking the walk” is non-negotiable.

Reducing our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions serves two purposes:

  1. Resilience: It insulates our operations from future energy volatility and regulatory shifts.
  2. Integrity: It aligns our culture with the external product we deliver to our customers every day.

We know that net-zero requires continuous measurement, reporting, and a willingness to adapt our strategies as technology evolves. We’re committed to seeing it through.

Through transparency, innovation, and continuous improvement, we’ll strengthen the sustainability of our operations and continue to support the decarbonization of North America’s transportation system—one building, one charger, and even one charging session at a time.

Livly and SWTCH Energy Partner to Deliver Smart, Sustainable Living for the Multifamily Industry https://swtchenergy.com/blog/news/livly-and-swtch-energy-partner-to-deliver-smart-sustainable-living-for-the-multifamily-industry/ Mon, 17 Nov 2025 16:59:23 +0000 https://swtchenergy.com/?p=6371 This collaboration unites resident experience technology with EV-charging innovation to simplify operations and power the future of sustainable communities.

CHICAGO, IL — November 17, 2025 – Livly, a leader in residential experience and operations software for multifamily communities, and SWTCH Energy, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging for multifamily and commercial properties, today announced a strategic partnership that enables residents to start and manage EV charging inside Livly’s resident experience app. The collaboration brings together two innovative platforms to make sustainable living more accessible, efficient, and connected for property owners and residents alike.

Bridging Sustainability and Resident Experience

The market evolution of electric vehicles is transforming expectations for multifamily living. Residents increasingly view EV charging as a standard amenity, while operators face the challenge of deploying and managing infrastructure within existing electrical constraints.

By linking Livly’s property operations platform and resident-experience ecosystem with SWTCH’s intelligent EV-charging network, property operators can now manage charging access, billing, and resident engagement through a single, streamlined experience.

“This partnership reflects a shared belief that sustainability should enhance — not complicate — the resident experience,” said Adam McCombs, CEO at Livly. “Together, we’re helping multifamily operators turn an operational challenge into a value-driving opportunity for both residents and ownership.”

“As both a developer and an investor in PropTech, I’ve seen how sustainability and resident experience are converging to define the next era of multifamily,” added Alex Samoylovich, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman at Livly. “What makes this partnership between Livly and SWTCH so powerful is that it delivers both — operational efficiency for owners and a more connected, eco-conscious lifestyle for residents. It’s exactly the type of innovation our industry needs to stay ahead of evolving expectations.”

Technology that Works for Properties — and the Planet

SWTCH’s technology enables properties to deploy EV-charging infrastructure using existing electrical capacity, reducing the need for costly upgrades. Its networked load-management system, SWTCH Control, dynamically allocates power among chargers, ensuring reliable performance across multiple users.

Livly’s all-in-one platform will connect SWTCH data and functionality directly to property teams and residents, including:

SWTCH Partners with 1VALET to Eliminate App Fatigue for Multifamily EV Charging https://swtchenergy.com/blog/news/swtch-partners-with-1valet-to-eliminate-app-fatigue-for-multifamily-ev-charging/ Thu, 16 Oct 2025 13:00:24 +0000 https://swtchenergy.com/?p=6141 Integration allows residents to manage EV charging from the same 1VALET Resident App used for building entry and amenities, creating a single, seamless smart building experience.

TORONTO, ON – October 16, 2025 – SWTCH, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, today announced a strategic partnership and platform integration with 1VALET, a premier resident engagement platform for multifamily properties. The partnership enables residents to manage their EV charging directly through their existing 1VALET Resident App, eliminating the need to juggle multiple applications to use their building’s amenities.

A Premium Charging & Resident Services Experience

The integration directly addresses “app fatigue” – a growing frustration where residents must navigate a sea of applications to control different building systems.

With this integration, residents can perform all EV charging tasks from the familiar 1VALET interface:

  • View real-time charger status and availability across the property.
  • Initiate, monitor, and pay for charging sessions in their building.
  • Receive notifications when their charging is complete.
  • Avoid downloading and registering for a separate EV charging application.

“We’re making EV charging as convenient and intuitive as any other building amenity,” said Rick Hardy-Cheam, Director of Strategy at SWTCH. “Instead of managing charging through a separate app, residents can now handle everything through the platform they already know and use. It’s about creating that seamless, premium experience that modern residents expect.”

For property managers, this unification reduces resident confusion, simplifies support requests, and boosts the value of their technology investment.

Meeting the EV Adoption Wave

As the number of EVs on the road continues to rise, the demand for convenient, demand for at-home charging is surging, making it a critical amenity for modern multifamily buildings. These properties face a dual challenge: providing the EV amenities residents demand while avoiding the technology complexity that frustrates daily life. The SWTCH-1VALET integration offers a “one pane of glass” solution that solves both challenges.

“Our residents told us they loved having EV charging available, but they wanted something more convenient than having to download yet another app,” said Hanna Haddad, Chief Product Officer at 1VALET. “This integration gives them the charging access they want through the app they already use every day to access the rest of their services at home.”

Implementation and Availability

The integrated solution is immediately available to properties currently using both SWTCH charging solutions and 1VALET’s resident engagement platform. New and existing clients of either company can contact their representative to explore adding the complementary service.

What you need to know about the EvoCharge shutdown & how SWTCH can help https://swtchenergy.com/blog/news/what-you-need-to-know-about-the-evocharge-shutdown-how-swtch-can-help/ Thu, 25 Sep 2025 16:02:32 +0000 https://swtchenergy.com/?p=6039 In September 2025, Phillips & Temro announced the closure of the EvoCharge EV charging business.

By November 2025, access controls for the chargers will cease to function, though basic charging functionality will continue to work as before. Essentially, it means EvoCharge’s chargers will become basic, non-smart EV chargers.

To preserve full charger functionality, access control, and other smart features, here is what you need to know about completing a successful migration to a new network.

Can EvoCharge stations be migrated to a new network?

Short answer: Yes. Because EvoCharge stations support OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol), migrating them to a new charging network is quite straightforward.

Essentially, you’ll need only to find a solutions provider that is also OCPP and then work with that company on a migration.

Having successfully migrated hundreds of charging stations to the SWTCH network over the years, we highly recommend working with a provider experienced in performing such a migration. They’ll know what to expect in the process and be able to help you avoid complications along the way.

Will migrated EvoCharge stations work the way they did before?

Yes! Because EvoCharge supported OCPP, the full functionality of your charging stations should be available to you if you migrate to a new provider with a platform that also supports that functionality.

If there are specific features you want to be sure your chargers retain, be sure to check in with your new solutions provider to ensure they are supported.

Reach out to SWTCH to discuss your priority features and how we support them.

Three months free: How SWTCH will support your migration

SWTCH and FLO Launch Seamless Roaming Agreement, Improving Access to Tens of Thousands of Chargers Across North America https://swtchenergy.com/blog/news/swtch-and-flo-launch-seamless-roaming-agreement-improving-access-to-tens-of-thousands-of-chargers-across-north-america/ Mon, 15 Sep 2025 14:25:03 +0000 https://swtchenergy.com/?p=5997 Cross-network integration eliminates charging barriers and delivers unified access through both companies’ mobile applications

TORONTO, ON – SEPTEMBER 15 SWTCH Energy and FLO, two leading providers of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions in North America, today announced a comprehensive roaming agreement. The agreement allows users of one charging network to access the other network’s stations through their existing app, eliminating the need for multiple accounts, payment methods, and apps to install.

The roaming agreement addresses a critical industry challenge: charging network fragmentation. As EV adoption accelerates, drivers face friction from different networks requiring separate apps and accounts. This complexity creates barriers to EV adoption, particularly for frequent travelers and those in multi-provider regions.

SWTCH and ChargerHelp Reduce EV Charger Maintenance Delays with Real-Time API Integration https://swtchenergy.com/blog/news/swtch-and-chargerhelp-reduce-ev-charger-maintenance-delays-with-real-time-api-integration/ Wed, 10 Sep 2025 12:50:52 +0000 https://swtchenergy.com/?p=5949 BOSTON, US – SEPTEMBER 10, 2025SWTCH Energy, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has announced a strategic integration with ChargerHelp, a premier EV charging technology and service provider. The partnership streamlines maintenance operations and maximizes charger uptime through real-time diagnostic sharing and automated incident response.

The integration unites SWTCH Connect, an open API platform dedicated to intelligent charging solutions that improve efficiency and streamline management for property owners, and EMPWR, ChargerHelp’s proprietary software platform designed for predictable management of EV charging infrastructure, that fuels its Reliability-as-a-Service O&M offerings.

Currently deployed across approximately 1,000 public EV chargers on the SWTCH network in Maryland, the integration significantly reduces communication delays when issues arise, providing ChargerHelp with comprehensive diagnostic data to respond and resolve issues faster and more effectively.

Traditional EV charging maintenance requires manual communication between network operators and field service teams. This often involves phone calls, email chains, and diagnostic summaries which can delay technician response by days or weeks.

SWTCH’s direct integration with ChargerHelp’s EMPWR platform delivers two key improvements:

  • Instant Alerts: Communication delays are reduced and technicians can respond faster as ChargerHelp will receive an immediate automated message when SWTCH’s monitoring system detects problems with a charger.
  • Complete Diagnostic Access: ChargerHelp’s Reliability Team is enabled to solve problems without sending a technician on-site as they will receive the same comprehensive diagnostic information used by SWTCH’s internal teams, including real-time data, performance patterns, and error logs. When on-site support is required, a technician will arrive fully prepared with the correct tools and parts.

“Before this integration, the process to dispatch field service support took extra steps. Phone calls, emails, and summarizing diagnostic information could delay technician response significantly,” said Jason Cruickshank, Director of Customer Experience at SWTCH. “With this integration, when our system detects an issue, ChargerHelp gets an immediate message along with all the same diagnostic data our internal teams use. It’s a straightforward improvement that drastically reduces down time.”

“Integrating with SWTCH streamlines our service delivery process,” said Walter Thorn, SVP of Product and Strategy at ChargerHelp. “We now receive the same real-time operational data as SWTCH’s teams, eliminating inefficient back and forth needed to diagnose a specific charger. This integration allows our team to review error details and performance patterns before heading to a site, helping us resolve issues more efficiently on the first visit.”

Developed in partnership with ChargerHelp, the integration harnesses the flexibility of SWTCH Connect’s open API platform to enable real-time data sharing and automated diagnostics at scale. The solution is now available to support SWTCH’s broader network of O&M providers—extending uptime-enhancing capabilities across North America. Building on its robust API infrastructure, SWTCH continues to advance charger reliability and service responsiveness, reinforcing its commitment to operational excellence with every deployment.
